چکیده

This study assessed whether the use of digital image filters influences detection temporomandibular joint (TMJ) bone changes on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Two radiologists evaluated TMJ images CBCT scans to verify presence osteophytes, erosions, pseudocysts, sclerosis and flattening, using software XoranCAT®; each was with without following filters: Angio Sharpen 3x3 5x5. Kruskal-Wallis’ test used assess application influenced scores assigned degenerative in condyle. Flattening present 15 cases (51.72%), followed by osteophytes six (20.69%), three (10.34%), erosion pseudocyst found two (6.90%). No statistically significant difference (P = 0.786) regarding original those treated both filters. Digital our did not influence diagnosis images.

Correlation between pain and degenerative bony changes on cone-beam computed tomography images of temporomandibular joints

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to assess correlation between pain and degenerative bony changes on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of temporomandibular joints (TMJs). METHODS Two hundred eighty-three temporomandibular joints with degenerative bony changes were evaluated. Pain intensity (numeric rating scale, NRS) and pain duration in patients with degenerative joint disease ...

Skin Doses on the Lens for Temporomandibular Joint Exam in Cone Beam Computed Tomography

The aim of this study was to evaluate the kerma at the surface of the lens in TMJ CBCT and to derive the equivalent dose. An anthropomorphic phantom of the head and neck manufactured by Radiation Support Devices (model RS230) was used. The dosimetric measurements were obtained by using fourteen thermoluminescent dosimetry (TLD) dosimeters (LiF: Mg, Ti), divided in two pairs (one pair for each e...

assessing joint space and condylar position in the people with normal function of temporomandibular joint with cone-beam computed tomography

background: the optimal position of the condyle in glenoid fossa is a fundamental question in dentistry. there is no quantitative standard for the optimal position of mandibular condyle in the glenoid fossa in our population. the purpose of this study is to assess the position of the condyle by cone beam computed tomography (cbct) images in patient with normal function of temporomandibular join...
